Ystradgynlais Miners’ Welfare Hall Art Project
We have been fortunate to take part in an Art Project which led to an exhibition at Ystradgynlais Miners’ Welfare Hall. This project started just before the summer holidays. We have taken part in 2 workshops at school since then.
We learned all about the miners’ strike and the significance of badges and banners used in protest. This led onto a collaborative design of a banner that represented our class and school, as well as creating pin badges celebrating things which were important to us as individuals.
We were then given the opportunity to cut out stencilled designs ready to be sewn onto a banner. This was presented to us when we were invited to visit the exhibition. After the exhibition, the banner will return to school, where we can proudly put it on display.
During the exhibition, we also took part in the making of a short film, reenacting the miners’ strike. It was such a valuable experience to speak with community members who either took part in, or were affected by the strike.
Rydyn ni wedi bod yn ffodus i gymryd rhan mewn prosiect celf gwnaeth arwain at arddangosfa yn Neuadd Les Ystradgynlais. Dechreuodd y prosiect cyn gwyliau’r haf. Ers hynny, rydyn ni wedi cymryd rhan mewn 2 weithdy yn yr ysgol.
Dysgon ni am streic y glowyr, ac arwyddocâd bathodynnau a baneri yn ystod protestiadau. Gwnaeth y dysgu arwain ymlaen i ddyluniadau cydweithredol o faner yn cynrychioli ein dosbarth ac ysgol, yn ogystal â chreu bathodynnau i ddathlu ein diddordebau personol.
Cafon ni cyfle hefyd i dorri allan dyluniadau yn barod i winio ar ein baner. Cafodd y faner ei gyflwyno i ni yn ystod ein hymweliad i’r arddangosfa. Unwaith mae’r arddangosfa yn gorffen, bydd y faner yn dychwelyd i’r ysgol i gael ei arddangos.
Yn ystod yr arddangosfa, gwnaethon ni cymryd rhan mewn ffilm yn ail-greu streic y glowyr. Profiad gwerthfawr dros ben oedd hi hefyd, i gael siarad â rai aelodau’r gymuned gwnaeth cymryd rhan mewn, neu cafodd eu heffeithio gan y streic.

How Does Exercise Affect Heart Rate?
As part of our learning about the circulatory system, we have been investigating how increasing challenge during exercise affects heart rate. Our next step will be to analyse the data we have collected and share our conclusions.
