Why do we have to use policies?
Policies are important because they help us to establish rules and procedures and create standards of quality for learning and safety, as well as expectations and accountability.
Without these, schools would lack the structure and function necessary to provide the educational needs of students.
How often are policies reviewed?
Policies are reviewed on an annual or biannual process. The headteacher ensures that policies are in place with the support of the Governing Body. Any policy that the headteacher feels is needed is shared with all members of staff for their approval. The policy is then taken to the Governing Body sub-committees and then ratified at a full Governing Body meeting. At this point they are formerly adopted and become the policy for the school.
Some policies are written by the school whilst others are suggested and created by Powys LA.
